Fitness: Anti-Fascism & Mental Health.

Anti-Fascism

Fitness is as important to Anti-fascism as it is as important to the physical well-being of comrades. Comrades should always make an effort to keep a standard level of fitness and be an example to those in the Anti-fascist scene. Fitness plays a big part in the war on fascism, as it provides the comrade with the necessary tools to combat the vermin and their hateful ideology when they choose to rear their necks in any case. Those serious in stopping the rise of the fascist menace should focus their fitness into 2 categories, Cardio & Combat Sports.



Cardio exercises help strengthen your heart, lower blood pressure and also helps with weight loss. Many exercises are based towards cardio, such as hiking, running and even walking for a long period of time. Hiking also provides a fresh change of scenario, especially mountain hiking which also helps improving one's mental health.



Combat sports like Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu jitsu are excellent tools in providing the comrade with the ability to strike against the fascists in a self defence manner, protecting themselves or their comrades in cases of enemy aggression. Both combat sports are extremely beginner friendly with groups in many countries ran by anti-fascists to train in self defence.


Fascists do not deserve a platform, and it's our duties as communist, socialists and anti-fascists to ensure they do not get the platform they desire to spread their hateful views. Having knowledge of some self defence will help in cases of protests escalating from the generic name bashing and chanting to a full street brawl, where you may need to protect yourself or comrades who does not posses the skills to defend themselves.


What is Muay Thai?

What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Effects on Mental Health by exercising

Besides Anti-fascism, These activities are a great way in helping with mental health problems. The simple act of just getting out of the house is a great way to start improving your mental health. The effect that exercise has on the serotonin levels and combatting depression is great. Exercise helps produce serotonin in the brain, helping the person feel great about themselves and helps uplift their emotions in general. Not only does the serotonin level increase during exercise, the willingness to keep doing it also increases. Along with the main point of exercising for mental health reasons, joining groups and making friends is also a great way to combat depression.


Comrades should actively encourage others to participate in activities that benefit them. Communication is key between comrades, and activities are a great way in developing a deep trust in your organisation.
